Chess Club

At Irving and Beatrice Peskoe K–8 Center, our Chess Club has become a true school family, united by teamwork, dedication, and a shared passion for learning through chess, with students regularly participating in at least one in-person tournament each month alongside their families. Although these tournaments are not organized by our school, our community comes together by arriving early to sit together, sharing meals, celebrating victories, and supporting one another through challenges and defeats. Guided by the motto that even when we lose a game, we always gain experience; students develop perseverance, resilience, sportsmanship, and confidence while strengthening academic, social, and personal growth. This strong sense of unity is celebrated at the end of the school year through a special Chess Club luncheon, where parents, students, the club teacher, and school administrators gather to reflect on the year, celebrate accomplishments, and honor the bonds formed through our chess community.
